Revenge of the '90s Podcast: 'Rush Hour' (1998)
It's impossible to deny the magical chemistry that exists between Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan.
It’s debatable just how well some of the things in Rush Hour (1998) have aged, but one thing’s for sure: This was the movie that finally helped Jackie Chan break through to the American audience.
After a few stops and starts, Rush Hour turned Chan into a Hollywood juggernaut, introducing the masses to his thrilling, humor-infused style of onscreen martial arts. And though the full extent of his talents are not necessarily on display in this one, we get a nice taste, and audiences would get plenty of Chan in more films for years to come.
Not to mention, there’s just no denying the magnetic chemistry between Chan and Chris Tucker, proving the buddy-cop formula can still work so well.
